About the Photographer:
Her name is Ashley Frederick and she is a senior at Bowling Green State University and is majoring in Communications. She is a passionate and adventurous person who loves the outdoors and experiencing new things. Although she attends college full time, works a part time job, and interns at a local horse stable by providing her knowledge of communication and applying it to the real world, she always finds time for her number one passion: photography.
Ashley's interest in photography started when she was young and has continued to grow. Her first digital camera was a Christmas gift in 2003 from her parents -- just a basic digital camera with limited mega pixels and zoom, and point and shoot capabilities. However, with the limited amount of options, Ashley quickly fell in love with the hobby. In October 2006 she received an upgrade for her birthday, a Olympus SP-510 UZ, a 7.1 MP camera with a better zoom and some manual capabilities. The camera went every where - horse shows, while flying, driving, or just hanging out with friends. It was then that she realized this was more than "just taking pictures" but instead it had become a huge part of who she was.
During her fall 2007 semester, she took a black and while film photography class. This was her first opportunity with a SLR - and although it was difficult at first, she quickly grew to love how quick the shutter speed was and all the other options available. Although waiting between taking the picture and developing the film grew aggravating at times, she made it through the class with some decent photos. In December of 2007, she received a Nikon D40X, complete with two lenses [18-55mm & 55-200mm]. The camera travels everywhere with her, ready for the moment when something catches her eye.
Ashley has to thank her parents, who have provided their ongoing support and investment in her passion. Without them, none of her pictures would have been possible. Ashley enjoys shooting for herself as well as getting pictures for other people. One day she dreams of having her photos hung on walls in people's homes or businesses.
